Happy Feel Good Friday!!!
When I first began Chasing Joy I reached out to friends asking what they do to feel happy or cheer themselves up. One friend said help someone. Since receiving that advice I have had the opportunity two times to help someone. The funny thing about helping people is that it helps you as well. Of course helping makes you feel good. You have added some positivity, brightness Joy to the world. You have reached out and supported someone. Whether you get to see the end result of your helpfulness or not you know you did the right thing.
Helping others offers a big boost to your self esteem. It reinforces that you are a good person. It shows you that you can be a blessing to others. It reminds you that your existence is meaningful and allows you to leave an imprint on the world.
A less obvious benefit to helping someone is that it lets the person you are helping know that they matter. Their needs are important. It boost their confidence in the kindness of others. It also allows them to put their guard down and see that their is benefit in depending on others.
A total unexpected benefit I have received from helping these two people is that it gave me insight into a talent I never knew I had. These two people, who did not know each other, both came to me asking for the same type of help. This tells me that others see an ability in me that I did not really see in myself.
Today I am feeling good because helping others has shown me a new reflection of myself, my talents, and how I can bring a little Joy to others.
Are you feeling good because you have experienced the Joy of helping or being helped by someone? Please tell me about it.

Thanks for sharing this post. It is truly a great feeling to help others such that they come out the other end. I started blogging to support those already in my network and reach those, who were unable to access me physically. I can't tell you the Joy I feel, when someone let's me know how I have unknowingly helped them.

Great post ! By helping others, you were helped. Reminds me of the scripture that states that "he who refreshes others will himself be refreshed."
