Last week I decided I wanted to go to an event in DC on Saturday.  My plan was to spend the day at the event then head to my Aunt’s house nearby for some quality time with my family.  Something told me to consult my budget before paying for the event. Good thing I listened to that inner voice.  After doing my bi-monthly budget, paying my bills, and moving some money into savings.  I realized I did not have enough play money left to buy spontaneous event tickets. Sigh…  Oh well, I still had a good weekend.  I kept it local and hung out with friends.  But not having the play money I thought I had was a little bit of a wake up call

I consider myself to be pretty good with money.  I have always used a budget.  I pay myself first and am good about paying down debt.  I even paid off my student loans 19 years early.  However, I have been traveling quite a bit this summer and spending more than usual.  It’s time for me to tighten things up and get my spending back in check.  That way I will have extra play money when I need it.  Taking care of your finances is a part of self-care.  Plus, being broke is one joy thief that I do not want to deal with.

One way that I can tighten up my spending is by using coupons.  I am not good about doing that.  I know I am giving money away when I forget my coupons at home before shopping.  I need to stop!  One great source for coupons that I am going to start taking advantage of is Groupon Coupons.  When I visited the site on Monday I saw 68,139 free coupons for 10,481 different stores.  These included places that I shop at like Home Depot, Payless, and Lane Bryant.  Some of the coupons could be used online or in-store.  I was excited to see there was a Groupon Coupon for Pet Smart.  I just got a new kitten, Buttercup, so my Pet Smart spending has increased.

Poor financial decisions will not be a joy thief in my life!  I am going to cut back on my spending and live within my means.  Groupon Coupons is going to be a great resource in helping me to do that and keep my bank account joyful.

  6. Groupon is awesome! I’ve been using it for some time now and we’ve been saving a lot because of it too. I think it’s perfect for getting all your needs without having to overspend. They pretty much have everything covered anyway!
