It’s been a little over a week and I am still riding high. My first ever event, The Joy of Giving, Chasing Joy Event, was a huge success. Over 15 people came out to the event. The event was free but cost of admission was one article of clothing, shoes, accessories, or handbags for the clothing drive donation for the charity. Well everyone brought more than just one item. The fitting room we used to hold the donations during the event was packed. At the end of the night we packed the donations up in the charity spokesperson’s car. We had collected way more than any of us had imagined. The donations filled her entire trunk as well as the back seat of her car up to the windows. She barely had room in car for her mother and daughter to ride home.
I was so nervous before the event. I ended up running a little late to get to the venue, Bellanor Boutique. I wanted to come across as professional to everyone. I was worried that the Breaking Chains Spokeperson or the Pastry Divas ( who provided our yummy cake shots) would get there before me. I wanted everything to go well for the attendees. I wanted the sponsors to be acknowledged and appreciated. I felt so panicked because I was running late. I drove as quickly as possible without causing an accident. Well my panic was for naught.
Everything went so smoothly. I arrived at the venue before everyone except for the boutique owner. I had plenty of time to set up. The Pasty Divas and the charity spokeswomen got there in good time. Guest started to arrive and by twenty after six I was saying my welcome and getting us started with some games and giveaways.
Everyone had a blast and went home with smiles and gifts from our sponsors. Some even went home with two and three gifts. I had a good time too. The atmosphere was so positive. Old and new friends came out to support me. New connections were made by me and between the guests.
I could not have done it without the generosity of all of our sponsors. I encourage you to connect with all of them because they believe in giving back and connecting with our community by supporting events like the Joy of Giving event.
