Peanut and Hurty Keeping it Joyful

Since Tuesday is not a normal post day on Chasing Joy I figured I ‘d keep it light hearted. Last week I advised everyone to run out and get a pet because they bring so much joy. Below are two videos showing my pets in action. I hope they make you smile.

The first video is Peanut and his Paws of fury.

The second video is my late dog Hurty. He was an old man at the time of this video. He was happy and having a few wiggles until he tired himself out. He was a great dog and we miss him a lot.

Happy Friday Joy Chasers. I hope you had a good week. Mine was a bit stressful so I will focus on the fact that I was still blessed through the stressful moments. I’ll also focus on the fact that I am blessed to be celebrating me 35th birthday the weekend. Saturday I’ll be at the Be Beautiful Expo and then out with friends for my birthday dinner and drinks. Then on Sunday I’ll go to church followed by the ballet Swan Lake. This should be a fun weekend.

I only have an small update on the Pinterest Project this week. The Pinterest Project is a year long project where I will bring a Pin to life. Every week for 2015 I will take at least one Pin and attempt to include it in my real life.

I did not try any new Pins this week. But I am still doing the fitness Pin How To go From 0 to 20 Push Up Progression. This Pin give you the steps to build up the strength over time to be able to do 50 toe push ups. I am still a beginner working on doing 50 wall push ups. I am up to 36 without stopping. I am optimistic that I will work my way up to doing the toe push ups eventually. I am still calling this a Pin Win.

Flashback Friday: The Joy of Hurt, Continued…

Sandy! Such a nice name for such a terrible storm. I am feeling really blessed this Flashback Friday. Sandy passed by me without causing any trouble. A few blocks from my house, somebody’s car was completely totaled when a huge tree branch fell on it. The TV footage of NJ and NY is horrible. My prayers go out to those people who have lost so much.

Speaking of prayers, today’s Flashback Friday post, The Joy of Hurt, Continued, is about my prayers being answered and my dog making it through his tumor removal surgery. God has been answering my prayers for my pets continuously. They are all doing well almost two years later. This Friday’s Flashback, The Joy of Hurt, is about one of my favorite furry fellas, my dog Hurt. He is really an awesome dog. Full of personality and super sweet. Almost two years ago I found out he had cancer. Since then he has had surgery and is now doing great. I know this is because of my and your prayers. My Flashback was a prayer request on behalf of Hurt and a reminder that prayer does work! Thanks to all who prayed and I ask that you continue to pray for my furry family (Peanut, Hurt, and Pinto).

Way to go Hurt! Way to go Wednesday!!!

Way to go Wednesday! Way to go Wednesday is where we say way to go to our friends and family on Facebook and Twitter to celebrate their accomplishments. I am saying Way to go to my dog Hurt! (I did not name him)

Hurt Loves the Holidays!!!!

I have three pets. One dog, Hurt and two cats, Peanut and Pinto. Today I am saying Way to go to Hurt for giving me so much joy for three years now. I don’t remember the day Hurt became a permanent resident of my house but I know it was about three years ago. Now I love all of my furry friends equally but I’m shouting out Hurt because he was the one I initially did not want.

Hurt likes Peanut even though Peanut can be a bully.

Hurt belonged to my ex boyfriend’s mother. I was asked to take him in by the Ex. I initially said no. A dog is a lot of work compared to cats with the walking and the grooming. But the Ex and my dad double teamed me and I gave in. Three years later I can say Hurt is the best thing I got out of that relationship. So way to go Hurt for giving us so much Joy.

Pinto is closer to Hurts age. She does not quite trust him but every now and then they kick it.

Hurt always roots for the home team.

Sometimes Hurt can even get a little Crazy!!!

The 4th of July has come and gone. But July is still the month of my country’s Independence, in that spirit check out my July Girlfriendology.com post. I’m asking, Are You Too Independent to be a Good Girlfriend? Since girlfriendology.com is all about promoting the benefits of and strengthening the bods of female friendships I’m talking about being a good girlfriend (i.e. a good friend to your girls). Feel Good Friday – The Joy of Hurt Continued

Happy Feel Good Friday!!

Today I am feeling good becaue my prayers have been answered. Last month in my post
The Joy of Hurt I told you about what a wonderful doggie he is and how his Vet thought he may have cancer. Unfortunatley, the Vet was right. This last month has been filled with tests, labs, bloodwork, emergency visitis, follow up appontiments and lots and lots of Money$$$$ But yesterday Hurt had surgery to remove the cancerous lump.

Why so much talk, worry, and money about a dog? While many of you already understand I know that is exactly what some of you are wondering. I have always had pets, actually cats. Hurt is my first dog. Animals have their own personalities. They become members of your family. They do things that make you laugh and smile. They offer comfort and company. They are dependent upon you which fits perfectly with people’s natural desire to feel needed and useful. Pets are loyal, consistent, and are basically living, breathing, usually furry vessels of Joy.

Hurt is all these things and more. He also filled a void. I got Hurt right after my dad was diagnosed with Cancer. His owner could not take care of him any longer and he’d be able to keep my dad company. So Hurt joined our family that also included two cats Peanut and Pinto. Unfortunately my dad passed away within months of his diagnosis. While It would be impossible for anyone, let alone a dog, to fill the void left by my dad, for a little dog Hurt has done a pretty good job. He has been a new source of love and affection for me. He has greeted me every time I come home with so much excitement, jumping, panting, and licking whether I’ve been gone one hour or one week; distracting me from the fact that my dad is not there to greet me. His silly dog antics have given me and my mom really good laughs during a pretty rough period. Oh an added bonus his walks have definitely helped me lose a couple pounds. Hurt has been a true source of Joy.

So although right now Hurt is sore, a little high (or maybe a lot, who knows) from his pain medicine, and has a really awful scar, I am feeling really good that his tumor has been removed. He is cancer free, on the road to recovery, and continuing to bring me the kind of Joy that only a pet can.

The Joy of Hurt

I have an awesome dog. His name is Hurt (I did not name him). He is a really good boy. He does not rouine my shoes or have accidents on my carpet. He is always happy to see me and give the best doggie Hugs. In other words he brings me much Joy.

Today he had a check up and the Vet things he may have Cancer 🙁 Test will be back in a few days. I am asking all of you to Pray, not just have positive thoughts, but actually pray for him. Please pray that his test come back negative and that I have Hurt continuing to bring me lots and lots of Joy for years to come.

Teaching the Bundle of Joy How To Chase Joy.

I take this motherhood thing pretty seriously. Baby Joy Chaser is still pretty small at only 15 months old. That’s why I view most of what we do as practice. For example we brush his teeth (yes he finally has two teeth) in the morning and at night. Most of the time he chews on the brush and tries to cover his teeth with his tounge. So its not the most effective brushing. The important thing is we are putting into place the practice of good dental hygiene.

Just as I am setting him up for dental success I can set him up for success in happiness. Right now, at only 15 months I am doing things with him that will teach him how to Chase Joy.

Today provided a great opportunity. Baby Joy Chaser had his 15 month check up. He is 26lbs and 2 foot 8 inches. In addition to getting measured he also got three shots. Knowing he would be having a difficult and painful experience I made sure to plan something extra fun for him. So after shots we had pizza, a food he actually asks for now, and went to the play area at the mall.

Baby Joy Chaser had so much fun. He ran and laughed and made friends with an older girl who was so sweet to him. I’m sure his legs still hurt from the shots but his focus through out the rest of the afternoon was on the good experiences he was having.

Baby Joy Chaser is too young to understand this practice but I’m modeling it for him in my actions and implementing it in his routine. Whenever I have to do a hard thing I try to balance it out with an positive experience.

This is one of my strategies and an example for my son of how to Chase Joy. How did you Chase Joy today? Are you teaching orhers how to Chase Joy?

#CJBL – Brunch With Boiron USA

The Chasing Joy Brunch & Learn is less than 10 days away and I’m excited. Every brunch has a different theme. This time the theme is Homeopathic Essentials for Everyday Joyful Living. I’ve partnered with Boiron USA who is sending their Pharmacist Dr. Christophe Merville to give us the low down on Homeopathic health.
