Happy October the 1st Joy Chasers!!!
It may not be a holiday for you but it is sort of a holiday for me and my family. It’s beginning to sound a lot like Christmas. Every year on October the 1st we play Christmas music. It is a family tradition started by my dad’s mother that I previously wrote about in my Joyful Traditions Post. So today I will post some Christmas music on Facebook and tag my mom, brother and nieces in the post.
Family traditions are important because they make us feel close to family members who are no longer with us. They remind us of where we come. They remind us and reinforce what values are important to us. Playing Christmas music today reminds me that the holidays are a Joyful time including fun experiences leading up to Christmas day not just on that day. That their are inexpensive aspects of the holidays that don’t have anything to do with gift giving, like music and decorations. Playing Christmas music on October the 1st is a reminder that gift giving has been a fun part of our family tradition and that their are 3 months to get ready for it. Most importantly this tradition reminds me of my dad and makes me feel happy that I will be able to one day give my own kids the same memories of Christmas music on October the 1st that he gave me.
Do you have any unusual family traditions like playing Christmas music well before Christmas? What is your favorite Christmas song? What Christmas Songs would you like me to share on the Chasing Joy social media accounts today?
