Tomorrow I am going to Bible Study for the second time. Last week was the first week. I was nervous and posted on Instagram and Facebook hoping I’d like it. I did!!!
My church has what they call Life Groups. Life Groups are groups of church members who meet throughout the week to do different things together. Some of the activities are social like running or game night. Others are more churchy (I know that’s not a real word) like bible study. I was not going to sign up for a Life Group at all because the one I signed up for last time was not a good fit for me. I only signed up this time becasue of peer pressure form a college friend that I saw at church one day.
Well this time I feel like the fit is good. For starters we never even read the Bible at the first Bible Study!!!! LOL, I know that does not sound good, but it is. Not many came the first night so we just chatted and got to know each other a bit. We talked bout which locations (my church has for locations) we attend and what brought us to bible study. We talked about what we wanted to discuss in the up coming weeks and how our group would not be uptight but instead be laid back and flexible. This is exactly what I was hoping for the first time I signed up for a Life Group. I wanted to meet some people from church in a relaxed and easy going enviornement.
I am excited to be going again tomorrow. More people should be there this time. Our bible study is for single women and I am also excited to meet some new single friends. So far the ladies I meet last week were kind and most importantly non-judgemental. I even shared with them that I am trying to conceive on my own and they were all super supportive. Not all of my Chrisitan friends have reacted that way. They even said they would be praying for me and seemed excited. One of the other women in the group said she had been thinking about going for a baby on her own too.
I think this bible study is a good fit. I hope as more women come I have a better and better experience. After two year of attending my church it is time I actually made some friends there. Faith and Relationships are two Pillars of Joy. This Bible Study is helping me grow in both of those areas.
Have you ever attended bible study? Does your church do life groups? Do you have church friends?
