Will you be alone for Christmas? If so I have a few tips for you.
For the month of December I have been doing Live videos on Facebook for #Vlogmas. It has been kinda of fun but mostly challenging as I am more used to shooting videos, editing if needed, and then sharing on social media. Nevertheless I think I am doing pretty good with them. Of course, some videos are better than others. I am particularly proud of the one I did yesterday.
This is my first year being alone for Christmas. I do have some plans to spend part of the day with family. But, this is the first year in my entire life that I will wake up in the house alone and not have anyone to exchange gifts with on Christmas morning. I do feel kind of sad about that but It helps to know that there are a bunch of other people out there who are also alone for Christmas.
I decided to speak to those people in yesterday’s FB Live #Vlogmas. I shared 5 tips on how to get through the holiday if you will be alone for Christmas. But before I got into the tips I made it very clear that being alone for Christmas does not mean that there is anything wrong with you. Don’t fall into a comparison trap. We are all on different journeys in life and for whatever reason your’s had brought you to this point in time where you will be alone at Christmas. It is a simple as that.
So here are the cliff’s notes version of my 5 tips.
- Tell someone, especially if you would rather not be alone that day
- Make a plan to go somewhere fun that may be open on Christmas like a restaurant or the casino.
- Find a Volunteer Opportunity
- Turn it into a self-care day
- Hustle, as in spend the day working on that business or creative idea you’ve been thinking about but not working on.
Now check out the video for the full down low.
Will you be alone for Christmas? Have you been alone in the past? What do you think of my tips?
