Hi everyone. I am continuing this week’s Philly Event’s theme.
Last Saturday my cousin and I hopped on the train and headed into Center City for the Philadelphia Flower show. I don’t ride the regional rail often but when I do I always check to see if I am in the quiet car or not. I would not want my chatter to provoke a case of Rail Rage. We were not in the quiet car and had a nice ride down town. It was nice and sunny and much warmer than last Saturday when we was originally supposed to go to the Flower show.
This year’s Flower Show Theme of Hollywood was obvious as soon as we entered the show via a red carpet.
I really enjoyed the theme. I have gone to the Flower Show just about every year for the last 5 or 6 years. While I have always enjoyed myself I have to admit sometimes I have looked at the displays and not really been able to understand the florists inspiration or vision. That was not the case this year. With the Hollywood them it was fun to guess which movies inspired the displays. I usually guessed wrong though.
I really liked this display. I thought It was inspired by Gilligan’s Island. I was wrong but close. It was inspired by Tarzan.
Another cool display inspired by Peter Pan included signs showing the way to the Lost Boys Hide Out.
I found the Winnie the Pooh inspired really neat. I loved how they arranged the plants to look like honey pouring out of the pot.
Another of my favorite displays looked like a cabin in the woods. I could not guess the movie. When I checked the sign I saw that it was inspired by The Parent Trap. The cabin made so much scene.
I really found this display interesting. Again I could not guess the movie. It was inspired by Maleficent. Does it say Maleficent to you?
I think my absolute favorite display was this one inspired by Fantasia. These brooms are awesome!!!
Of course there was a Frozen themed display. It looked much better in person.
Also I really liked this display of the Philly Fanatic
Another favorite (I guess I had a lot of favorites) was from the Nightmare Before Christmas display. These flowers were hanging from the ceiling like chandeliers.
I did not do a lot of live posting while I was at the flower show. Trying to be in the moment you know. I did post this really cute and small display off Snoopy and is dog house.
In addition to taking pictures of my favorite displays I also took a lot of pictures of the flowers themselves. The displays did not have as many bright flowers as I liked but I thought these were beautiful.
Our time at the flower show was awesome! There is only one thing I wish I’d done differently. When we arrived we saw that the Wine and Spirits (Pennsylvania’s state run liquor store) had set up a pop up shop. We stopped in on the way out. We should have gone in when we first arrived. Why? Because they were offering a tasting of all kinds of wines and liquors. Because we were on the way out I could only try a couple. Next year I know to hit the Wine and Spirit tasting first so I can taste as much as I like and then walk it off for 3 or 4 hours while looking at the flowers.
Did you go to the Philadelphia Flower Show? Do you have a Flower Show in your city? Have you ever gone?

I really loved the Nightmare Before Christmas display. I have to admit, I found this year pretty disappointing overall. The displays weren't as grand as I've become used to.

I understand what you mean Susan. I cant say that I loved many of the displays but I did really like the Fantasia one.
