Recently someone said to me “you are happy all the time”. This is absolutely false. I am not happy all the time. As a matter of fact most of the time I am kind of even keel, not happy / not sad. Just kind of going through the motions about my day. Actually, when I take those personality test I tend to score in the melancholy range. In my case those tests are kind of spot on. I tend to be more on the feeling down side of things if I am not careful. This is why I Chase Joy.
I firmly believe that having a happy life is a choice. While my natural disposition makes me more prone to worry, anxiety, and a little too much realism. I am determined to have a happy life overall. That means I have to work at it. I have to focus on thigs that bring me joy. I have to work to strengthen my pillars of joy. I steer clear of unhealthy relationships and work to maintain healthy ones. I set goals. I practice self-care. I rely on and try to grow in my faith. I make a point to give back and help others. I count miy blessings and practice gratitude. I put in the work to be happy and have the joyful life I imagine for myself.
No, I am not happy all the time. But the good news is I don’t have to be. Neither do you. You don’t have to be happy all the time to chase joy. You don’t even have to be happy right now to Chase Joy. As a matter of fact Chasing Joy is specifically for those of us who have to work at happiness. I am working at it and I want you to work at it too.
We work to make others happy. We work to pay bills and support ourselves. We work at looking fit and fashionable. I am challenging you to work at feeling Joyful. I challenge you to start Chasing Joy no matter how you may be feeling right now.

Thanks for sharing. Life is an effort sometimes. I am so glad you are making the best of it. Thanks
For encouraging us in the process. Half the battle is showing up. A full night’s sleep, soothing shower and cup of tea give me a better perspective. When I just can’t deal then I pull out the notebook..take a walk…pray..listen to the radio or motivation video CD……my very last resort is to phone a friend.
