As you know, earlier this month the Chasing Joy Brunch & Learn (#CJBL) took place. The brunch is just a continuation of the things we talk about here on the blog, ways to be happier. The only difference is instead of me doing the talking I get to sit back and hear from other talk about their paths towards joy, covering topics like following your passion, defining success for yourself, and how to look as joyful on the outside as we feel on the inside. What I get out of the #CJBL, other than getting to connect with some of you readers in person, is knowledge, inspiration and new perspectives on life.
The August #CJBL was no different. There was a wealth of information and inspiration but two things really resonated with me. The first thing came from one of our speakers. Janeane Davis, of the blog Janeane’s World spoke about creating a vision board. My understanding of a vision board is creating a collection of images that represent the things, experiences, and goals you want for your life. As Janeane was talking I jot down a note saying Use Pinterest for vision boarding.

The second thing that resonated with me came from one of our sponsors. We were lucky enough to have 3 of our wonderful sponsors in attendance at the Brunch. The ladies from Dress Barn Gateway Shopping Center, Pink Diamond Athletics, and Adorn You were in attendance and spoke to us for a few minutes about their products and services. In the couple of minutes that the ladies from Adorn You were speaking they said something that really hit home. Adorn You specializes in making broach bouquets and broach bouquet inserts. One of the ladies talked about how she was single and that often single women feel that can’t get excited about or enjoy things that are related to weddings or marriage. She said that if those are things that we want for ourselves we could embrace and enjoy it even if it has not happened for us yet. This was a message that I needed to hear.

Being 33 wanting to be married and wanting to be a mom and having not yet met Mr. Joy Chaser can be very disappointing at times. I have even felt like focusing on things related to marriage and parenting would only draw attention to the fact that these things have not yet happened. I have felt like those things were not for me, being single. But listening to the ladies from Adorn You makes me think that my way of thinking could be flawed. Have I denied myself the joy that I could get if I allow myself to embrace these things????
In the spirit of combining Janeane’s message on Vision Board and the Ladies form Adorn You’s message on embracing and enjoying marriage/wedding related things regardless of my single status, I have created two new Pinterest Boards, Joyful Wedding/Marriage and The Joy of Motherhood . These boards will be my vision board related to becoming a wife and mom. There’s not much on them now. But you can follow me and watch my vision and vision boards grow.
Do you use vision boards? Do you use Pinterest for vision boarding? Did you embrace all things marriage and babies when you were single or did you save that for when the time came?

I do not have a vision board, but that sounds like a great idea. I have never used pintrest either although I have been seeing others with a pintrest this account. I have been in back to back relationships lasting for quite a few years at a time. After last break up, I made up in my mind that I was going to take some time away from relationships. During my period of singleness, I took some time to assess myself, spent some time with family and friends, focused on my boys. Most importantly, I established a stronger relationship with my Father in Heaven, like I had never had before. And my prayers were answered when I least expected it.

Adorn You was honored to be apart of your brunch. Thank you for remembering my comment. I truly believe it! What you think about you bring about!!!
