Well this Furlough ish is really going down. A few weeks ago I told you about how the powers that be were talking about F-ing with my money and cutting government workers hours by 80%, well they done gone and done it 🙁
Today is the first day of my reduced work schedule. While I am afraid of what my first furlough paycheck will look like, I am not going to let this furlough steal my joy. Instead I’m going to focus on the bright side like I mentioned before. So here are 5 things I’m looking forward to enJoying during the furlough.
- Showing up to work when I feel like it. Well sort of. Instead of having to be to work each day at 7 am like normal. I can arrive any time between 6:30 am and 9:00 am. I’m still going to aim for 7 but I’m sure I’ll take advantage and get some extra sleep here and there.
- Jokes, Jokes Jokes. Lots of people including me find humor to be a great source of stress release. I expect the furlough jokes to be frequent and funny.
- Happy Hour and Center City Sips. I don’t work in center city. So when I try to go downtown for happy hour normally I can only catch the very end. Now I’ll be getting off work in plenty of time for Vodka & Cranberry and Margarita specials.
- Friday’s off! My old work schedule had Friday’s off and that has not changed. A four day work week is always a blessing.
- Gym time. I can go to the gym during the time I’d normally still be at work. Of course this will be on the afternoons when I’m not throwing back drinks at happy hour 🙂
So those are the good things about the Furlough. I hope focusing on the brighter side will lessen the blow of my smaller pay check. Have you or are you in a similar situation with more time but less money on your hands? What are some of the things you did during that time?

Looking at the positives! I hope income comes in other ways to fill the void unto the furlough is gone. I am sorry though that you do have to look for the positives.

Staying positive is so, so important isn't it? My last FT job they kept cutting my hours and cutting them – and I kept getting sicker with migraines (I never had headaches before this job) – until they finally laid me off when they had a money situation pop up (which they did). My lay off was the best thing that ever happened to me – my chiropractor agreed too! LOL
I now own my own daycare in my home – and while things are extremely tight and I don't have insurance, etc – I feel SOOO much better (rarely have headaches now!).
Enjoy your furlough – God has you in His hands and He knows that this may be the best thing for you right now even though you may not see it. =D
I'm visiting from a link up on SITS – would love a visit back at either of my blogs:

Yeah, they're are some positive and negative aspects of furlough days, but I agree, it's best to focus on the positive so you don't drive yourself crazy. Enjoy your time off!

My husband has had a number of furlough days the past couple of years as well. He's a teacher, and budgets have been hit hard in public education. It's nice that you are trying to see the positive, so I hope you enjoy the extra time for joy. 🙂 Stopping by from #SITSSHAREFEST

That's a good way to look at it all. When I quit working, it was a huge adjustment for me. (I quit because I was left with no choice but to do it.) I ended up taking up blogging and finding ways to earn money doing it. It's still a growing process, but definitely a lot of fun.
I love the name of your blog, and the fact that your looking on the bright side of things despite how scary it may be right now for you.

Good outlook!! We aren't in that situation but we could have been. But we might be soon. Sigh. I need to adopt your outlook in case.

Good for you!! Good for you for being able to have a positive attitude in a really crappy situation. A four day work week would be pretty cool. Coming from the #SitSummer
