Chasing Joy Adopts a Family #JoyOfGiving
We are 3 days from Turkey Day!!! Gobble Gobble 🙂
I think most of you would agree that Thanksgiving definitely indicates we are in the holiday season. This is a time of year that can be complex. There are so many things to be happy and excited about:
- Family gatherings
- Beautiful decorations
- Gift giving
- Gift receiving
- Traditional foods like real baked Mac & Cheese (not this garbage)
- Holiday TV shows and movies
- Family traditions
- Christmas music
There are also a lot of things that come with the holiday seasons that can lead to stress and unhappiness:
- Family gatherings without love ones who are no longer in our lives
- The physically laborious tasks of holiday decorating and cooking
- The financial and emotional burden of gift given
- Emotional burden of gift receiving
- Holiday weight gain
- The letting go of or evolution of family traditions
- The pressure to force this to be the most wonderful time of the year
See, this can be a very complex time of the year. Depending on your situation and predisposition to stress you will likely experience your own unique combination of the above. To help me manage my own mix of holiday Joys and Stresses I like to focus heavily on the giving aspect of the holiday season. This year I am kicking it up a notch and welcoming you to join me in experiencing the Joy of Giving.
Giving back is not a new thing for Chasing Joy. We (me and many of you Joy Chasers) have done charity walks, donated items for women transitioning from welfare to work, families in homeless shelters, and for cancer patients living at the Astrazeneca Hope Lodge Philadelphia, given money to causes such as the march of dimes and free to breath. This holiday season we will be doing something new. This year Chasing Joy Adopts a Family.
Look at the lists above again. All of the things listed are normal Joys and Stresses of the holiday season. Now imagine that you don’t have the resources to do any of the things listed in the Joy list. There are many many families facing that reality right now. So, I would like us to help one of those families.
Here is how it will work. From now through December 11 you can nominate a family for the sponsorship. You can do that by filling out the form here >>>https://goo.gl/forms/L2vyEw6x2t8Khr2z1. From now through December 20th you can donate money to the Go Fund Me Campaign. I set the goal at $500. For that amount we can donate a supermarket gift card towards a holiday meal along with a Visa type gift card that can be used for gifts and or holiday decorations.
I really hope you all get to experience the Joy of Giving by helping as Chasing Joy Adopts a Family. Here are 4 ways you can help.
