How do I love me? Let me count the ways. Actually, there are 28 ways. One for each day in the month of February for the #LoveMe Challenge.
Here is my post on the Chasing Joy Facebook Page for yesterday’s task.
(function(d, s, id) { var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0]; if (d.getElementById(id)) return; js = d.createElement(s); js.id = id; js.src = “//connect.facebook.net/en_US/all.js#xfbml=1”; fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js, fjs); }(document, ‘script’, ‘facebook-jssdk’));
Today is Day 5 and the task is A Note To Your Past Self. Funny thing is I have already done this exercise. In my post Talking To Myself I wrote notes to myself at different stages in life from the week prior all the way back to 15 years ago. I’m not going to rewrite that post because you can check it out here.
I will tell you the overall theme of the notes to my past self. At every stage my advice to my younger self included phrases like Do Not Worry, Try Not To Be Stressed, Relax, Do Not Feel Guilty, Don’t Be Hard On Yourself, and Don’t Take Things Personally. Do you see the theme? At almost every stage the advice I’d give to my past self is essentially, CHILL THE HECK OUT!!!
By nature I tend to be a serious person. I take friendships seriously, jobs seriously, relationships seriously, blogging seriously, and religion seriously. I have never thought of myself as a serious person but the reality is I am. I like to do things a certain way. I like to be respected. I like to feel accomplished and smart. These are all good qualities but we all know there is a such thing as too much of a good thing. So the advice I’d give to my former self is the same advice that I am giving myself today, CHILL THE HECK OUT!!!!
Everything does not have to be serious.
Everything does not have to be perfect.
Give yourself room to make mistakes.
Go with the flow sometimes.
Don’t try to figure everything out ahead of time.
Chill Out and Chase Joy!!!
Are you doing the #LoveMe Challenge? What would you say in a note to your past self?
Savvy WorkingGal says
Note to my previous self – don't spend so much obsessing about my looks. I am typically a serious person too. Have we ever compared Myers-Briggs scores. I am an ISFJ. Thinking you are too.
