It’s that time of year again. We are quickly approaching prom season. I cannot believe it’s been over 15 years since I went on my senior prom. I am not one of those people who consider high school to be my best time. College was way better.
For me high school was a time of loneliness and insecurity except for a few days. These few days included the senior class trip to New York and the Prom, both junior and senior. The prom was the first time I got a glimpse of the beautiful woman that I was becoming. The prom was the first time I remember feeling a little sexy and liking it. I did not feel insecure or worried. I felt full of Joy.

We don't do proms here in the UK or should I say we didn't used to, as some now do. Never thought about it from the point of view of your post, agree it's a good idea for Macy to do the intro night, hope it was fun.

Wandered in here from the #AtoZChallenge. I dreaded prom, mostly because I was one of the "Nerd Herd". We were the bookworms, the tech freaks, the outcasts. None of us were ever going to go because we weren't popular enough to find a date. I loved looking at the beautiful dresses in the stores and imagining I had a boyfriend that would take me though. I think all of dreamed of having a date and going, even though we knew none of us would. I do remember going with a few of my friends and trying on those beautiful dresses. We stared at our reflections and commented how different, how beautiful we looked, when beautiful was not something we heard about ourselves. You look very beautiful in that dress.

Look how lovely you are! And so grown up, too!
I went to a conservative Christian school where we weren't allowed to dance so we didn't have a prom. We had banquets. But they weren't fun for me (in fact, I got in a car accident on the way home for my junior one and was in one of those foam neck braces for several months!)
I've only attended one reunion–the 30th one (makes me feel so old to say that) and I left early. My life deviated from the way it was "supposed to be" as displayed by my classmates. And I'm grateful for it!
