NaBloPoMo is hard! No, I have not quit, but I did need to take a little break. I took the weekend off. My brain just felt plain old tired. Not quite like a headache, more like too weak to think about anything of substance. Rather than just write a less than stellar blog post for the sake of NaBloPoMo and writing every day, I gave myself permission to have a couple of days off.
Today I’m back. It’s Monday. I’m thinking about goals this week. This is a short work week for many of us because of Thanksgiving. So I don’t have too many day job goals. I have a couple of blogging goals to keep me on track. For the first time ever I have a list of things and corresponding deadlines related to the Chasing Joy Brand. However, taking precedent before my blogging goals, my big goal for this week, is to SLEEP!
I have made some positive health changes over the last few weeks. I am taking some medicine to help with my thyroid and pre-diabetes, I am drinking more water, making better food choices, and eating smaller portions. I have lost about 5lbs since meeting with the nutritionist. One area I have not improved in is sleep. If I am lucky I get about 4 hours during the work week. I know this is really bad for me and totally unhealthy. So this week I am focusing hard on going to bed earlier.
To do this I need to prioritize my activities. The things that must get done before I can go to sleep need to happen earlier in the day. I also need to allow myself to set aside the things that don’t have to get done when it is time for some shut eye. My motivation to get to bed earlier is knowing that everything will improve if I am more well rested. I will wake up feeling better. I will have more energy. I will have an even more pleasant disposition. I will lose weight easier. My body will be in a better position for baby making. Overall I will have more joy.
Do you guys struggle to get to bed? How much sleep do you get? What are your goals for this week?

Sleep has been and will probably be a major issue when dealing with my family and operating my blog. Right now I get from 5-6 hours a night but Thank Goodness I'm able to operate smoothly on that.

Man, it seems as if a I always don't get enough sleep. I think I realized I need to get more organized and get things done.

I could get some sleep if I wasn't trying to comment on all the brown blog love posts lol. Seriously I can't wait to catch up on sleep over the next couple of days.

Yes,get some sleep. I know that it's easier said than done, but it's so necessary.

I get about 2-3 hours of sleep most nights because I work hard now to play later. If I get 6 hrs of sleep….that's good hasn't happened in a while.

I have my moments when I don't get nearly enough sleep but I started monitoring myself with my fitbit and was like woo..it's worse than i thought and the quality of my sleep was off as well but lately i have been out before 10 most nights that i am home and up by 5am (like now as I am writing this) which is fine with me.

When I find my sleep pattern is off, I have to turn up my workout. It is the best way to make sure I get more than 4 hours of sleep. Blogging I think whips us in to over drive.

Sleep is my biggest struggle; not because I'm not tired. Because I have a million things to do at home, as a Mom, and for the blog. After the kids are in bed for the night I'm trying to crank out content or do things on my to do list.

I actually set an alarm to remind me to go to bed though by 9 pm I'm winding down. I get about 7 hours sleep.
