I am not a music lover so in the car I listen to talk radio more than anything else. Last week while on the way home from acupuncture I caught part of an interview with Shonda Rhimes on NPR (National Public Radio). I’m sure you know who Shonda is. If not just watch the Thursday Night line up on ABC. Those are all her shows.
I did not catch the entire interview but I did hear her say something that really stuck with me. She said that she did not realize how much power she had over her show in the beginning. She said “power is useless unless you know you have it”. This left me thinking am I aware of all of the power that I poses? I started thinking about the day job right away but I think it is important for me to bounce this off of other areas of my life like my relationships and even my health.
I encourage you to examine your life as well as we head into a new week. Ask yourself, are you aware of all of the power you poses?
P.S. Be sure to use that power for good!

Totally love the quote! I think that was my biggest accomplishment of the year was becoming more aware of the power I hold within.
That is really an inspiring quote. This post has been great for reflection. Thank you!
What an interesting quote. I just love Shonda's shows!
I love that state Shonda said! We all have power but its up to us to recognize it and use it!
This is a great thing to ponder. I think often we are so caught up in what we are doing, or fearful of decision making, we don't realize how much influence over our own situation we have.
That sounds like a really good thing to do. I'll do it.
That's a really good quote. I think we all have a lot more power than we realize.
I promised my mom I would always use my power for good. It will be interesting to mull over the power I possess and keep it in mind for the new year, regardless of challenges.
Shonda Rhimes is the best writer in television and I could not survive without Scandal and HTGAWM! I definitely take pride in the power I have.
Such an uplifting quote. I feel like once we see our true potential, we are able to accomplish so much more than we ever thought possible.
I think too many of us are afraid of our power. I know I'm guilty of feeling like embracing my power makes me a b***h.
This is such a great post. I think most of us are guilty of either forgetting we have power or shying away from it.
I agree with knowing how to harness our power. A lot of us have the power, but don't know what to do with it.
