We all have that thing that we feel naked if we don’t have it with us or have it on, that thing that people rarely see us without. For some people it is their purse or wallet. For others it’s a pair of earrings or a favorite shade of lipstick. For me the thing that I feel naked without, the thing you rarely see me without is a ring.
I’m single (and looking 🙂 so it’s not a wedding ring. It is not an heirloom. It is not worth a lot of money. But it is extremely valuable to me. It is my school ring. Not my high school ring but my college ring. And I LOVE IT!!!
I did not get my high school ring so when I had the opportunity to get my college ring I jumped on it. I was able to make many choices on the rings design so it does not look like most school rings. It is white gold, has a red stone with the Temple University “T” etched in white gold on it. It says Temple across the top and University across the bottom. The right side has my graduation year etched on it. The left side is etched with my major (Economics) and degree (Business Administration). My signature is engraved inside.
While I think my ring is pretty that is not why I love it and wear it every day. I love it because every time I look at it I am reminded of four of the best years of my life, College. I had a great time at TU. I am still very happy with my choice of schools. I learned a lot. But more importantly I met some of my best friends there. I had many firsts in college including my first time making decisions on my own, my first real job and my first real boyfriend. My ring also reminds me of what an accomplishment it is to graduate college. Every time I look at it I feel proud of myself.
Every time I look at my ring I am filled with Joy. Do you have a piece of jewelry or something else you wear regularly that fills you with Joy???

Visiting from comment hour! I never bought a high school or college ring. However, I bought a ring on an overseas college trip and wear it every day. It's always fun to have something sentimental and meaningful to carry with us!

I have two favorite pieces of jewelry. 1 is a crystal ball charm that was my grandmothers and the other is a necklace my great aunt gave to me when I was diagnosed with cancer. She is a 3 time cancer survivor so it means the world to me.

Well, I am not a US resident so I am out of the running for said prize but 1. I am visiting after your #commenthour visit and 2. you are blogging about bling here and hey…you snagged me.
My fave piece of jewellry is the ring I wear on my left middle finger – not for any other reason but that is my preferred ring finger at the moment as a single woman, and not because I am rude. lol. I bought the ring on a whim one Saturday because I said to myself, I am an independent, beautiful woman who was raised to be that way and encouraged to be self sufficient so that when that guy comes along, he cannot take me on any wild ride because I am dependent. I bought it because I could!!! And I loved it then and love it now.
I cannot name a fave post as I am still exploring your blog but if they are like this one, then I am in good company!

The piece of jewelry that brings me joy is of course my wedding ring. It's an antique ring from my husband's family in Greece. Love it!
My fav post of yours is one I just read (totally late) about how you were happy to turn 30. I turn 30 next year and am happy about it. It's always nice to read a post from someone who's happy about their birthday, instead of someone who's complaining about aging. Great job!

Hi, it's Maria (disney_fan_1999@yahoo.com)
1. You know I'm not a huge fan of jewelry but I would feel "naked" without my watch 🙂
2. As to the favorite blog, it's gotta be the "joy thieves". It just makes you realize how much of a joy thief you can actually be without even noticing it! It also reminds you to identify the ones closest to you!

My favorite piece of jewelry is the ring I wear on my right ring finger. I dont wear much jewelry – it's the only ring I wear and I never leave home without it. I dont have much sentimental attachment to the various rings as the style of the ring has varied over the years as my tastes and income have matured. It brings me joy to know that I am blessed to be able to allow myself such an indulgance.
My favorite post has been the summer list of things to do. I have a list too but as always your posts give me something to think about.

Oh and I forgot to mention!!!! They also stole my high school class ring (I didn't get a college one, so it was the only school one I had!), which I totally loved (it was so worn and dirty too) and was the only ring I had for YEARS until I got a job and bought my own! That p!ssed me off so much – like it is a class ring with my own name on it – how are you going to hock that?????
Glad to hear that you have yours and it means so much to you! HAHA – i guess i sound bitter, but actually like i said above, it all worked out in the end, so it was worth it! ~bam~

Hey there: I don't have one specific piece of jewelry to talk about – actually, my story starts off kinda sad 🙁 Several years ago my apartment was robbed and, among other things, almost all of my jewelry was taken. My family doesn't have a lot of family heirlooms, but I did have a few pieces of jewelry from my Grandmother – specifically my fav piece was taken – an insignia ring with her initial "J" on it in beautiful script writing (always thought that if i had a daughter i would name her after G-mom and give her that ring)….actually, the ring is so tiny that i couldn't even fit it on any of my fingers but i didn't care.
Anyway, I received a large insurance settlement (get renter's insurance everyone!) and i started aggressively saving for a house down payment. About 2 yrs later, i found that perfect house and had the money for it. I swear to you I felt my Grandmom's presence – she was smiling down on me and saying "See, there's a bigger purpose here! Things happen for a reason!" and i felt all the anger toward the theives lift off of me.
I know that wasn't the point of your post, but I found my JOY in that HOUSE 🙂 and i really loved that ring 🙂
i actually feel naked or exposed without my inhaler! haha! I guess since i have had it with me EVERYWHERE for almost 30 yrs now, it has become a part of me!
And as for my fav post – it is the one about being comfortable in your own skin…loved it and am happy you shared that with us! Also loved the 100 things about me post! ~bam~
