Dear 2011

I cannot believe you how soon you will be here. I always knew this day would come, the day when you would arrive. But I never imaged it would come so soon. You are traveling fast have made your way past China and maybe even India. You will be here in only a few hours.

2010 and I had a good time. We tried some new things together and had a few adventures. We made new friends and learned a lot about and from some old friends. 2010 and I started Chasing Joy. However it is time for 2010 to go. 2011 you have big shoes to fill. While 2010 and I came very close to catching it we were still Chasing Joy. 2011 you must join and aid me in my pursuit.

I have big plans for you 2011. I know you will eventually have to leave and our time together will feel as short as or shorter than the time I spent with 2010. So we have a lot to do. We will have your a party tonight. A combined welcoming party for you and going away party for 2010. But tomorrow we hit the grown running. We have debt to pay, some weight to lose, and relationships (old and new) to build upon.

The Devil’s Workshop still has inventory that must go. We have to find a volunteer opportunity, attend a Hockey game, bet on some horses at the track, see a good show (maybe wicked or the lion king) and plan events with friends (perhaps even a vacation). 2010 was helping me with a few specific goals: jogging 3 miles non-stop, being able to do men’s push ups, and fit into a single digit clothing size. I expect you, 2011 to pick up where 2010 left off. I have purchased a treadmill to help us with these goals. Perhaps you 2011 will be the right time for me to take that boudoir picture.

2011 I anxiously await your arrival. I am filled with gratitude and appreciation. I am thankful that myself and my family will get the chance to know you. I greet you with optimism and hope. 2011 I look forward to Chasing Joy with you.
